Becoming New Collection

The Becoming New collection features a series of charcoal drawings on paper that depict isolated moth and butterfly wings. Each image is anchored by a minimal linework border that frames the wing’s distinct design.

Icons of renewal, the Lepidoptera remind me that we are always evolving. Entering the chrysalis requires vulnerability and strength, mirroring the duality of loss and gain that any metamorphosis brings. Once within and as the imaginal cells begin to work, these insects surrender to their unmaking unafraid, stripped of their familiar form, and ready to become something new.

— Georgia O'Keefe
